Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well? Apologies for the absence yet again, I have been having some technical and personal issues – perfect storm.

We are plodding on at this end, keeping going through it all. We are safe but are focused on looking after ourselves at the moment.

Riding out the storm.

Sorry for my absence!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well and haven’t been missing me too much. Thank you for all those who have been asking over me it means a lot.

I haven’t vanished off the face of the planet just yet, however I have been less available than normal due to one thing after another.

I have had family members who have been really ill lately; my Mum was in and out of hospital for a while and when she finally started to get better both my folks got covid. My brother had symptoms too but luckily had not caught covid, just a cold that was going around. Unfortunately I caught this off him and it turned into bronchitis followed by sinusitis. The other half got it from me which caused his migraines to be debilitating again for about a week, this was after we managed to get them under control a bit better. I have also been for my pain management programme which was twice a week for 5 weeks, I had to come out of work for that so I was trying to balance the health of myself and my loved ones, work and the pain management programme. I essentially have been going to work then getting in bed. This is a sort of coping strategy that I have so that when I do go out to see friends or family I have the energy to at least sit in a different 4 walls. When I am unwell I get flare ups with the ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia so I just need to look after myself and rest up, though I haven’t taken sick leave from work as I feel this wouldn’t benefit me in the long run.

Anyway, I am around for those who want to message, and for those who just like to read from a distance I will keep coming back.

Wishing you all good health xXx

Happy belated Valentine’s Day!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

The other half and I have been ok; although he has been struggling a lot recently with his migraines again. I have been fine, no changes, I think I am just feeling the cold a bit too much.

Yesterday we enjoyed a quiet night in with take-out and a movie, since we hadn’t been paid yet. However, we will celebrate Valentine’s towards the end of the week with a small meal out at one of our local places. His Auntie is celebrating her birthday tomorrow and has invited us to get some Indian food with them so we have another thing to look forward to.

I have spent the last couple of weekends with my family as normal, they give the other half a bit of respite while I am off work. Mum and I have been getting creative, I had the idea of making my own scrunchies as I want really big ones…I have a lot of hair. We started with a dino scrunchie with is a little bigger than the ones I usually buy from stores. I trialled this for a week (day and night I wear them usually) and it works really really well, so I went for even bigger the next time…a hogwarts one of course, and at least twice the size of the first one I made…much much bigger! I am in the process of trialling this one for a week, it looks massive on its own but with all the hair I have it looks to be really good size for a scrunchie that can actually be seen in my hair…and they are both strong too as I used a thicker elastic than most. This was really important for me when I went to buy the fabric and elastic because my hair is hard to keep in a bobble or scrunchie and many snap after a few days or so…hence why I decided to trial them on me before I tell you all about them.

I am super happy with the two scrunchies I have made and my mum is trialling a third smaller one for me as she has shorter, thinner hair than me…she has only good things to say about hers.

Once I have trialled these for a little longer, I will start on making my very own scrunchies for you to enjoy. These won’t be on sale for a little bit just yet as I really want to put them to the test before I sell them, and what better test than my very long, very thick, very wavy tangled hair?!

Keep an eye out for my new scrunchies, different sizes so they are suitable for different hair types…coming soon. The art work is in progress and once I am happy with this I will have my own fabric printed and start making this wonderful new product. In the meantime, check out my trial scrunchies! (these particular fabrics won’t be for sale)

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are dong alright at this end.

Since we last spoke I have had the appointments that I mentioned, all seemed to go well considering I needed to do them over the phone. This was because I had to isolate. As you know, we test all the time at work for the safety of the residents, well my PCR came back positive. Nobody around me got sick, and I had no symptoms in addition to my typical daily symptoms. Even my daily symptoms didn’t worsen any more than they have already been worsening over the last few months. In fact, I was more unwell after my booster – though having my vaccine is probably what stopped me being unwell if I did have covid. Anyway, I stopped upstairs for the week and the other half slept in a separate room, ate separate food, watched TV separately…I was alone all week and it was a miserable experience but it was necessary in case I did have covid and it just wasn’t showing itself.

During the appointments I have had in the last two weeks, everything has now either been put on a waiting list, had appointments booked, or actually been seen to. Productive, if a little overwhelming. You wait on these lists for months/years, then like busses all your appointments start pouring in. I will benefit in the long run and I have made some appointments on evenings and weekends too. Thank you for those who have been concerned recently, the other half and I are both doing alright.

Not long after my Mum’s birthday it was my Brother’s birthday, so we celebrated with an all you can eat in the town I live in (we postponed it due to the whole isolation thing). I made him a big birthday badge to celebrate and draw lots of attention to him…because he doesn’t like to be centre of attention. Please note that the model in the photo is actually the other half, not my brother.

You will find that I have sort of vanished for longer periods of time recently. The living room (where my art station is) is absolutely freezing. I sometimes see my own breath, even sat here with a blanket around me, my fingers are so cold I have made a tonne of typos because I can’t feel the keys under them and my asthma starts to worsen. I spend about half an hour down here at the most before I have to go upstairs where it is a bit warmer. As the hamster is upstairs and the cats roam up there, we like to keep all the portable heaters up there. The lizard will be joining us up there if it gets much colder, he has his own heaters so his vivarium is usually ok but we are monitoring it. The fish still seem absolutely fine, but again we will keep an eye on them. I like to pop down from time to time throughout the day to say hello, which they don’t seem to appreciate as they like to be left alone mostly. We are now mostly using this space to store the boxes that we are packing bit by bit, since I can’t do much in one go the other half is doing what he can.

I haven’t forgotten you and I am so glad you haven’t forgotten me. Thank you for your patience, I will keep popping in and when it warms up a bit I may be able to pop in more often!

Monday 17th January 2022

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well and have enjoyed the first couple of weeks of 2022?

Big update coming since it has been a while…

The other half and I have been in work as normal; there’s not too much difference when you work in a care home, however I did take the first Monday off. We celebrated the new year together, a quiet night in with our sparklers on the balcony…it was perfect!

While the other half was at work on New Year’s Day, my brother hosted me for the day and let me watch the Harry Potter Reunion along with all the other Harry Potter related TV available that day. He fed me some delicious food and we enjoyed a full day of Harry Potter.

Since then it has been my Mum’s birthday; we celebrated by taking her shopping and treating her to some nice new clothes. Followed by a lovely meal, where she got a delicious looking carvery…I should have chosen that option as mine was good but not great.

I have also had to take the little hamster to the vet after work today, he has a little gunky eye bless him…sleeps with his food and wee in the same place even though he has a number of beds to choose from. Little bit of conjunctivitis, 161g in weight…he is big for his age but to be fair we got him big and he has long hair so that makes him look a bit bigger too. The vet had a little fiddle and he is definitely a he biologically…he wasn’t afraid to show her and he’s still a baby despite his size.

Tomorrow I have a number of appointments…one medical appointment that I was referred for 11 months ago, another medical appointment which is just the post op from my wisdom tooth removal, and a third which is regarding our rehousing situation. I don’t think I have gone into much detail about that but long story short, they are starting the demolition process (currently at the planning stages of redevelopment) and we will need to be upheaved before that happens. Another long story short, which I may go into more detail in the future, is the difficulty of post-op for me. A few years ago I had the other side done and pain wise I was bad for a couple of days then tolerable pain for a few weeks (with complications months down the line). This time though, I have been in so much pain, the pain is spreading across my full jaw and all the way to my front teeth, my face just blew up, the bruising was awful. My jaw was unable to open very far at all, even now I don’t have full movement back in my jaw and the pain is still quite bad. I have a hole which they looked at and suggested it would probably be ok, my stitches fell out the next day, the hole does seem to have gotten a touch smaller, I didn’t notice the hole until the swelling finally went down in my face either. I mentioned previously about my first couple of days post-op at the hospital being super rough…on the plus side I am back to fork-mashable as I was before the op and got back to that fairly quickly.

I spent a solid 2 days working on a jigsaw that I was gifted for Christmas which I wanted to show you last week but I lost a piece. Fully finished a 1000 piece jigsaw (and I haven’t done jigsaws for many years) and there a 1 bit missing. I was fuming. I refused to move it though, adamant that one of the cats knocked it off somewhere and I would find it one day. Well I did find it…on my bed. Which is strange considering my jigsaw was done at my art station downstairs…it is getting framed eventually for my own wall (the other half isn’t a huge fan)…in the meantime, hopefully the cats don’t take any bits from it. Anyways here it is.

Happy New Year!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well and had a wonderful Christmas, however you celebrate.

The other half and I finally got the day off work together for Christmas Day and enjoyed spending it together and with our loved ones. We were able to see both my folks and his folks and even had some time together throughout the morning which was lovely. We then celebrated Boxing Day just the two of us and the other half cooked a wonderful Turkey Dinner.

The other half also bought me a new tablet for my artwork! The tablet I currently use is the Parblo brand, it works really well and I have really enjoyed using it and still will while I am at my PC…one thing I wanted that this couldn’t offer was a screen so that I could move around and do more artwork. Having the screen on this new Huion tablet means I can do my digital drawings even when I am too unwell to sit at the desk all evening…we are still learning how to use it, but for now I have it at my desk for set up and testing and I have done a Christmas piece to get accustomed to it. I hope you like it.

Thank you for always being here for me, for supporting me to create my art and share it with you during a pandemic, through my own illnesses, and while holding down a day job. I couldn’t do it without you.

Be careful, be safe, be strong, be there for one another, be happy…and I will see you in 2022. Happy New Year! I hope it is all you wish it to be.

Happy first day of Winter!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

I wanted to apologise for my absence, I have had a pretty rough time recently and have spent most of my energy at work and only allowing myself time to rest and relax when I have been at home.

I reacted very badly post op and ended up staying in the hospital overnight, with the threat of staying another night I simply begged to leave with the other half and my folks and the hospital agreed as long as I promised to speak to the GP. I got in touch the following Monday and they diagnosed a type of vertigo that means I will need to have medications for a short while followed by exercises that retrain my balance…so I will do that while I am off for Christmas as I will have 4 days away from work, I think that is the safest bet. I can however walk without 2 people holding me up again now though…progress haha.

I also had some major swelling and bruising but fortunately that has gone down now, I have a large hard lump on my jaw on the side that the wisdom tooth was removed and a fairly large hole that should be stitched, so that was checked at a quick follow up and they seem optimistic about it recovering well enough…they also think that I will be able to get normal jaw movement back too but have advised that this could take a while and I may have to do exercises to strengthen my jaw muscles…she did suggest chewing gum so I will try that once the stitches have dissolved. I have noticed that one the hardest things about being post op for me was the pain and fatigue, not just pain in my face but across my whole body. It is possible that the op itself or the way my body reacted to the anaesthetic or post-op initial recovery has given my other chronic conditions a bad flare up. So I have just been looking after myself rather than pushing myself too hard to do too much. This has meant though that I had to do a last minute dash for the few Christmas items I didn’t have ready.

I have also spent some time over the last few days finishing up some artwork, I didn’t spend as much time as I had hoped last week due to the bad reaction and days of sleep. I have almost finished with the August 2021…I say almost, but I keep looking at it and thinking maybe less is more this time. I may or may not tweak it in the coming weeks so I won’t put it on sale just yet but I do want to show you where I am up to with it.

The proper version is higher quality and would be printed at a higher quality when I am ready to put it on sale, however I wanted to put up a smaller version here in case I am not done with it. Thankyou for your patience with me while I have been ill, I may take a short break over Christmas so if I vanish, please don’t worry

If I don’t see you before then I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

xXx

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

Thank you so much to all those who came to visit me last week at the market, it was a wonderful day and you were so lovely and supportive. I also had a great time getting to know some of the others who had stalls and was privileged enough to have a nice natter with a couple of young artists in the making. Check out some of the pictures below.

I have been working most of this week and I will be back on Monday, however I will then spend a full week in isolation as directed by the hospital since my wisdom tooth removal was postponed when I was poorly. I will be under aesthetic on Friday, so the other half and I both have to isolate from Tuesday…at least this means that I will have a couple of days to do my artwork before the op and recovery time.

The snow that came down last week inspired me to draw some winter flowers, so here are some cute little snow drops for you.

Flashback to 28th November 2021 – Christmas Market

Tuesday 23rd November 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

A quick update – I am still not very well, but the doctor has been in touch and confirmed that I had some sort of food poisoning. I thought it was strange that nobody around me got ill, but she explained that I would react quite badly and struggle to fight off any bad food due to my lowered immune system. So that’s that…I am supposed to be getting better any time now though as I have passed the 2 week mark. I have been fine to work since I am not contagious in any way, I have managed to start eating a drinking better again, and I have kept myself busy with some market prep.

Which brings me on to my next point…

This Sunday coming is market day! I am really looking forward to meeting you in person and getting to know a little bit about you for a change! I have been creating something especially for the event too.

I decided to keep within the darts theme and create some wonderful art for each and every one of you. For one day only on the Christmas Market, I will be selling individual bottles of hand sanitiser. I will personalise these by hand with your name or the name of your loved one on the day. These are limited edition so grab one while you can for just £1! (bottle, personalised label, and sanitiser all included in the price).

Sunday 14th November 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

Apologies for my absence last week, if you follow my social media you will already know that I was cooped up in bed feeling sorry for myself! Today hasn’t been much different either…let me take you back 2 weeks…

You may remember from my last blog that the other half and I were planning on celebrating our 12th anniversary together, we booked off the first week of November and booked a short staycation holiday to Chester in this beautiful two bed house near the station. Chester really isn’t far for us so it was a short car journey (thank you to my brother for driving us there are back and animal/house sitting in our absence), stopping of course for lunch on the way up, which would be good for my pain and fatigue so I didn’t spend the whole holiday recovering from travel! We had a wonderful time too; we saw loads of Central Chester, had a boat tour down part of the River Dee, found some really nice places to eat and explore history. We also spent a full day at the zoo seeing all of our favourite animals and having a really nice lunch in the restaurant as a treat. Once we returned, we gifted each other our anniversary presents…I got the other half some dinosaur slippers and some dinosaur chefs knives….the other half got me some warm snuggle slippers and a dressing gown, both featuring Snitch!..which have come in very handy this week too. We spent some time with our families over the weekend and watched the Ice Hockey in the local arena…we really did have a wonderful week!

The suddenly on Saturday night, I woke up in the middle of the night, I was so unwell and I just kept getting worse throughout Sunday. You know me though…I took myself off to work after 2 nights of barely any sleep and 2 days of barely any food/water. By Wednesday I was sent home sick from work, barely functioning I spoke with my GP, they ran some tests (still waiting results – still getting negative covid tests by the way) and I got some much needed rest. My kitchen then partially flooded due to the washing machine waste pipe breaking, they came to fix that the same day luckily…and then we sadly said goodbye to one of my beautiful fishies who has unfortunately been unwell for a while now. I started to feel a little better after I finally got some sleep…but it was the calm before the storm as they say. The other half took me to the hospital and I had my fluids by IV before I got sent home for more rest and advice that if I don’t see the back end of this in a few days I will need to seek further medication attention and that my conditions are making it more difficult for me to fight infections…oh and the wastepipe is broken again in the kitchen but they don’t think it is an emergency so we have to wait to do our laundry, hopefully they will come out tomorrow.

Naturally, I plan on going into work tomorrow so please wish me good health so I can go and make myself feel useful. I had originally planned to take this week off work to prepare for, have, and recover from my wisdom tooth operation which will be performed under general anaesthetic, however they have postponed this now I am unwell.

This series of crazy events following a wonderful week away meant that I have had very little strength to draw, so I have prioritised the work that I am preparing for the Christmas Market…by which time I will be much better and will be able to greet you all face to face as planned!

In the meantime, you can see a couple of the doodles I did while I have been sick…these are my personal doodles, sometimes they turn into an idea, other times they are just for my own benefit. The first is a tribute to my lost fishy, she was a black moor, about 5 years old. The second is a silhouette of one of the meerkats we saw at Chester Zoo, keeping guard on his perch.

Happy Halloween!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

The other half and I now have a week off work to celebrate our anniversary, I can’t wait to update you on the things we have planned.

On our days off this week, we have been doing all things Halloween and celebrating my Step-Dad’s birthday. My brother and I carved some pumpkins, which I will show you at the end of this blog. I made mine into a little kitty, one of his teeth fell out but that’s ok, he is cute all the same! I got a big pumpkin for the lads, my brother carved it so that one side was spooky, the side that my photo doesn’t show has a glow up ghost on, he used these colourful clear pins to make the shape of the ghost, then when he put the candles in the ghost glowed!

Yesterday we saw some family for my Step-Dad’s birthday, which was wonderful because I don’t see them often with the covid situation. I got him 2 Manic Street Preacher vinyls and the other half got him some of his favourite beers from his favourite local that we go to, my Step-Dad likes these beers and doesn’t get them himself so it is a nice treat for him.

I also promised you that I would be back this week with an announcement…and I don’t want to disappoint so without further ado…

I am finally doing my first ever market stall…and a Christmas one none the less!!

We are super excited about this, I had delayed doing the market stalls when covid happened as you know I work in a care home and wanted to keep my face to face contact to a minimum. However, 2021 is the year! We are heading into Blackburn, where some of my family are from, and setting up camp for the day. I will be selling my artwork all day long, some you will have seen on my website or blogs or social media, and some that will be brand new, never before seen! …and I will have some special discounted market only prices!

So come on down to St Pauls WMC, 104 Montague St, Blackburn BB2 1EE on Sunday 28th November 2021 from 10am until 4:30pm. For further information, please click HERE and join the Facebook event.

I can’t wait to finally meet you all in person!

Sunday 24th October 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

This week feels like it has taken absolutely ages to get through. So far, it has been one of the toughest weeks in my new job…I managed to get through it though, with the help of some great colleagues!

I have just one more week in work before the other half and I have a full week booked off to celebrate our anniversary! We are super excited and I am looking forward to telling you all about it at a later date. Before that however we still have my Step-Dad’s birthday and Halloween to celebrate!

I couldn’t wait to make my Halloween art after I got some inspiration at work. We had been looking at pumpkin carving ideas to do with the residents and we came across one that had been carved into a house with mini-pumpkins as little trick or treaters…obviously I couldn’t resist drawing my own version of a little pumpkin house and I love it! I used a mix of media to create this piece; starting with my mixed media paper and my Uni-ball brush liner for the line art, followed by my Ohuhu markers for the base colour and shading, then I added some H&B coloured pencils for extra texture and my Posca pen to make some of the stars stand out.

P.S. Stayed tuned for a big announcement in next weeks blog!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

The other half and I have been to the wedding I was that I was telling you about last time. I was a bridesmaid for one of my best friends so I had the privilege of seeing the whole day from start to finish…and what a wonderful day it was!

My friend chose a beautiful wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses for the day, while the groom and his men wore handsome matching suits. They looked amazing and so happy. I will show you the art that I created for them in a future blog. For now here is some wedding themed art that is waiting to go on my Redbubble page.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Sunday 10th October 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

This week has been much the same in terms of work. I am still learning my new role, every day something new comes along that I need to learn how to do. So far so good though.

I have been treating myself to a lot of rest after work this week so the other half and I have found a new series to watch. It is called Sex Education, so far we have just started the second season and we are enjoying it…but there’s only 3 seasons so it won’t be a long term watch like Boruto is as that has hundreds of episodes.

I also attended a wedding rehearsal yesterday which went smoothly, so I am looking forward to the real thing next weekend! I am honoured to be a bridesmaid for my friend.

I have also been making some new digital art for you…today I will show you the lavender I drew. I love this style of drawing and wanted to practice it for myself and I love the outcome!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

Apologies for the vanishing act again, I wanted to take a little break after showing you my completed Summer 2021 print to focus on work and rest.

I had my flu jab the other day and I am feeling a little sorry for myself, my arm is on and off sore and I’m starting to feel a little overheated. This is nothing compared to previous vaccines so I’m sure I will be fine in no time at all. The other half has been doing really well looking after me though, we had a whole day dedicated to watching Boruto today which has been great! He’s off playing his games now so I thought I would do some art to get myself up and about for a bit. Here is a pretty orange flower…just for the sake of it. Hope you like it.

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well? We are doing alright at this end.

The other half has been either in work or on his game to give me plenty of time to get some rest. Week one in my new role has been full on, I have had someone from head office come down to help settle me in to the role and organise some additional training for things that I haven’t learnt yet, which has been super helpful! I have spent most of the week away from any form of art too, similar to the last few weeks while I was shadowing for the role. I have moved my doodling to digital a little this week though, so that gives you something a little more colourful to look at. Thank you for your patience with me, I hope to be back to a more regular schedule with my blogs before long, in the meantime I hope you are enjoying the doodles while I focus on my training.

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

Apologies for not being online this week, I wanted to quickly pop on tonight though to let you know about the update I have been holding back on telling everyone. As of tomorrow, I have a new contract at work. I have been promoted to Care Home Administrator! This is a huge task and there is a lot to learn, that is why my blogs have been so few and far between recently. I am super excited and anxious about this role and for those of you that know me well, you will know that I am throwing myself into this head first to learn as accurately and quickly as possible. I haven’t done any art for myself lately that I can show you on here, but on the days where I haven’t worked on particular pieces, I have been doing some late night doodling to keep my drawing wrist comfortable with pencil to paper. Here are a few cats for you…I will return soon enough with some finished art but in the meantime, apologies for any longer absences such as this week while I learn my new job in the day and rest in the evenings.

Thank you for your patience!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

The other half and I have spent a fair amount of time at work this week so we have mostly been winding down in the evenings with some Boruto and some Hell’s Kitchen. I haven’t done a lot of art recently because of this, but also because I have spent most of the last two weeks either covering another department or doing my training. I will be doing more training all this week and then hopefully have a proper update for you. In the meantime, take a look at the keyring leaving gift I made for a colleague, I gifted it early as she isn’t leaving until next week, but she loved it!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

I have bene enjoying my bank holiday weekend…yesterday I was working but Saturday and today I got to spend some time with the folks and my brother. We had some great food and did a little bit of shopping. Yesterday was also my folks’ wedding anniversary so I drew them a little gift for the wall to help them celebrate 7 years of marriage!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

I have spent a lot of this week in work doing the training that I was telling you about last time, as well as covering another department a little too. I have really been enjoying my training and getting to know more about the home I work in. I love learning and I love developing myself…plus it has the added bonus of being less physically demanding and will hopefully help with my chronic pain. I haven’t had a lot of time to do any extra artwork for you to see…I have been doing some doodles in my sketchbook which you might like to look at…I was keeping with the kitty theme as they are on the same spread as the other sketchbook one I showed you last time.

Sunday 22nd August 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

I have spent most of the last few days catching up with family and friends (between resting of course haha). On Wednesday I went to York for a day trip with the other half and my family. We went shopping on the Shambles, so naturally I treated myself to some Harry Potter merchandise, and the other half got a new Jurassic Park hat! We also found some really nice places to eat and drink and really enjoyed spending time together out of Manchester.

On Thursday I had a video call with a friend to catch up and then met another friend for coffee (or milkshake in my case). I enjoyed catching up with them both and having a good old chin wag. Friday I was working, I made up some missing hours (from not working today as planned) but was also able to get a couple of extra hours in for overtime, I went out after work for a quiet meal with a couple of friends and treated myself to a lovely burger and a natter with the girls. Yesterday was mostly a relaxing day but in the evening I had my folks and brother over for some pizza and a couple of games of Secret Hitler, which they have never played before and loved! All in all, we have had an eventful week…which explains why I was too tired to do much today.

Next week I am getting some additional training at work…I am super excited as I have been wanting to develop more and have now got this opportunity to learn some new skills. I will be in work most of the week to let my training sink in…wish me luck! (and sorry if I vanish for a few more days again).

I have been practicing using my new paint pens on bottle tops again…this time I painted the Batman logo for my brother, he loved it since he is a huge fan…as you know.

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

I haven’t much to report as I have mostly spent the last few days in work and trying to get some sleep, however I have got some new art supplies and I have been testing them out. I got a few of these POSCA paint pens, so I have been using them to do smaller details on the keyrings I make, such as the one I showed you last time. I have also tried them out with general doodling on canvas paper with acrylic paint. I love them so far, they have worked very well for me. Here’s one of my doodles…

Thursday 12th August 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

I spent Monday and Tuesday in work doing some overtime (as I have annual leave this week) but since then I have enjoyed spending some much needed time resting after a busy week last week. The other half has been in work the last three days for training so I have had plenty of time during the last two days to get some rest. I decided to start reading one of my Twisted Tales books…the Aladdin one…A Whole New World. I have been wanting to start this one far ages but haven’t given myself time away from everything to just sit and read (that’s why I have been turning to audio books a lot) and I have only read about four chapters because I have been up to other things too but I am enjoying it so far. I, of course, put some time aside to watch the first of the Naruto movies too (as I am waiting for the other half to be ready to watch Boruto with me and he isn’t interested in the films).

I have also spent some time doing little bits and pieces of art while the other half has been at work…when he got home from work today we headed out for a bite to eat followed by a drink at our favourite local bar. You may remember that I have mentioned this bar in the past here, the one where the other half can enjoy imported beers while I sit with my can of coke…the one we love to go to for a quiet drink and have a good catch up with the owner who we are friends with. Anyway, I have been making some more bottle top keyrings recently and wanted to make one for our friend. I gave this to him today and he loved it, so I can now show you…what do you think?

Sunday 8th August 2021

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well, we are doing alright at this end.

The other half and I have had some friends come and visit us from across the country for the last few days, the gang that we usually play games with online. The visit had been rescheduled for about a year and a half as we went into the very first lockdown just as the original visit was planned for. The last time they visited Manchester they stayed over at the houses of those of us who live here…this time though they all booked hotel rooms…partly due to the restrictions (which have eased a lot recently) and partly because the group has grown significantly this time round. We went out for an amazing meal (as several of us have July/summer birthdays) and some crazy golf, we spent some time playing board games, we spent some time in smaller groups doing different activities…and most importantly, we have a good old laugh and catch up! We really enjoyed the last few days and we all really needed it after it being delayed for so long.

I am back to work tomorrow, I should have had a few more days off yet but I am working some overtime the next couple of days. Today has been a solid rest day in preparation for this. The other half and I managed to get through the last 20 episodes of Naruto Shippuden and I am super excited as some of the characters that end up together happen to be the ones I have been shipping the whole time! I am looking forward to the next set of episodes, the ones that come after shippuden, but I think the other half is going to make me wait for those as he wants a little break from it.

Today is also apparently cat appreciation day…fortunately I have been sketching some kitties in my sketchbook recently so I have a kitty to show you today. I have been snuggling my two girls all day, I am currently trying to appreciate their artful input into my work which is sat to one side while the paint dries…with little bits of fur stuck on it from when one of the girls stood on it! Luckily it was just tacky at the time so she didn’t get any paint on her toe beans…I checked.

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

I want to start by apologising for my longest absence yet. We are well, there is no need to worry! Although I am having a flare up with both my pain and fatigue, I am doing alright. The reason for my absence is because we had the rewire done in the house a couple of weeks ago and I haven’t had access to my PC since. The plugs were all moved (which is fine because now they are safe) so we needed a full move of the room before I could get wired back up. The other half has sorted out a new ethernet cable and hooked me all back up so I am back up and running now. I still haven’t been able to sort out the technical issues with the other blog page but we are happy here so if it can’t be fixed this will be fine.

I have spent most of my time away from blogging doing overtime at work and helping a friend through a difficult time, as well as drawing and doodling of course! I have a friend who has been through a difficult time recently and has needed a little extra support, so I have helped in any way I know how. One way I have been able to help is by creating a colouring page to help with hand strength and function based off 4 simple things that were requested: bees, butterflies, hearts, and smiley faces. I have delivered this in person tonight and would like to show you! I will be turning parts of this art into artwork for you too, I can get my new art up on Redbubble before long as well!

Hi, welcome back!

I hope you are well?

I am having some website builder technical difficulties at the moment, you can all see my blog but I cannot access it to update it. So while we figure out what is going on there, let us convene here instead.

The other half and I have been trying to enjoy the last few days of our annual leave from work. We went on the steam trains on Saturday and enjoyed a lovely meal out We watched the England Euro final last night…the other half had his England t-shirt on but he was gutted with the result…still we did well to get that far!

I was back to work today…I always find the first day back after annual leave really difficult, I find it particular difficult to manage my pain too. I am currently sat with a seized up drawing arm as that happens to be my cleaning arm also.

Anyway, I thought I would show you my little butterfly and kitty line art. I think this is super cute, I love it…I will be putting it on Redbubble for you soon as I know you have been waiting for new stock
